FAQ's for Laundry
What does your wash and fold service consist of?
For wash & fold orders, we clean using mildly warm water (30 degrees C) and then dry the clothes before neatly folding into our reusable bags. We generally follow industry-standard procedures, but if you have special instructions about the kind of fabric, detergent to be used or folding instructions, email us at hello@1stopwash.com or contact us.
Do you have a special wash & fold service for those with sensitive skin?
Absolutely. You can edit out your preferences by logging into your customer admin panel and accessing your cleaning preferences. Simply select ‘non bio’ for detergent and ‘no’ for fabric softener.
Where are my items being washed?
At our very own in-house facility. Unlike other laundry service companies, we do everything in-house. Not only is this safer, but it helps us maintain our quality standards. Using in-house facilities also lets us customise your laundry service the way you want it.
Do you wash my clothes with other people’s laundry?
Absolutely not – this is one of the things that we can ensure as we operate our own plant. Your clothes are washed separately, so there is no chance of cross-contamination. We’re a little obsessed with cleanliness.
What do I do before my first pick up?
Simply put your clothes to be serviced in a separate bag, if you are using more than one service e.g ironing, wash and fold or laundry, then separate the garments by the service you’d like. Then just have your phone nearby and wait for our driver notification to let you know of his arrival for pick up.
What if I have special requirements?
You can add notes to your order before pick up, alternatively, you can notify our driver of this and he will add it to the notes of your order. If you love emails, send us one at hello@1stopwash.com.
What type of detergent can I choose from?
You have a choice between bio & non-bio laundry detergents. The majority of our customers prefer bio-based laundry detergent as it is scented. However, we have non-bio detergent ready for customers that have sensitive skin. You can also edit preferences in terms of the use of softener.
Are there any additional costs for large items in Wash & Fold?
Yes, in some cases, certain large items get charged more because they are cleaned using special techniques that we don’t use for normal services. Examples are shown below:
- Duvet (Feather): £25
- Bath mat: £4
Duvets in particular require air-only drying which is why we charge more for this. Other items would be charged at a standard rate per kg. Bedding can be added into wash & fold; but this means they’ll still have to be ironed.
Is there a minimum order size for Wash & Fold?
No but our minimum order value for collection & delivery is £20 so even if your order costs less than this, we will round it up to this amount.
How long does your laundry service take?
We generally stick to a 48-hour turnaround time. But, if you’re in a hurry and need it within 24 hours, we can make that happen too, for a small fee. Next day evening service is also available. You can put in a note in your bag before pickup or send us an email at hello@1stopwash.com. You can also let our driver know when he comes to pick up your order. Do note that next day service for wash & fold incurs extra express charges.
Are you insured against damage?
Yes, we insure up to 10x of the value of the item.
How do I choose contactless laundry pickup?
You can enable the contactless delivery option when you place an order. Then, choose a spot where you’d like your order to be picked up from. It could be your building’s concierge or just a safe place where you believe your clothes will be sheltered from theft. We have a number of customers that do this and have no reported theft yet. To enable this, sign into your account and find contactless delivery options within your delivery.
Can you deliver my laundry when I'm not at home?
Yes, we’ll drop your clothes off at the same spot as the order pick up. If your pickup and delivery spots are different, we can do that, too. You’ll receive a notification before delivery.
Do I have to provide my own laundry bag?
No. We can provide a reusable bag with the first order, upon request. These bags are disinfected after every use for your health and well being.
When do I pay?
We take payment only once the order has been delivered/returned. We’ll conveniently send you a payment link so no need to phone or come in store, which will save you time and effort getting to us. Win win for our customers who are already taking advantage of our simple to use laundry service.
How do I pay?
We accept payment via debit/credit card or cash when the order is delivered back to your doorstep. When you register for a 1 Stop Wash pickup and drop off account, we require your debit card details, and we hold this on account via Stripe who is our dedicated payment partner. When your order is ready, we take payment just before the washed clothes are delivered back to you and you get an invoice sent to your email, in true 21st century style.
Are there any items 1 Stop Wash doesn’t wash?
We’ll wash and fold anything you give us; although we do it case by case. If there’s an item that you’re unsure about, email us at hello@1stopwash.com or call us to discuss further.
What if I am unhappy with the result?
We are confident that your items will receive the best quality cleaning possible. If you find a stain that has slipped through the cracks or your garment doesn’t meet our (or your) quality standards, please email hello@1stopwash.com with pictures and we’ll provide a complimentary re-cleaning.
What if an item goes missing?
That’s a highly unlikely situation. But hey, we believe in plan B’s. So, if you find something missing from your delivery, send us an email at hello@1stopwash.com and we’ll find the pilferer of your laundry as we have a dedicated customer service team ready to help.
